Even Lots MANY More Games I’ve Rejected! Part 2.

I have finally reached the point where I just want to make a list of games that I have rejected.  Most of them are for similar reasons – they are all YUJJO aka yukko aka yukky aka yuk, gross, erky, etc – you get the idea.

  1. Their Graphics are too blurry.
  2. They are boring.
  3. They are tedious.
  4. They are timed-only games.
  5. They are Free to Play – NOT!
  6. Their storyline is inane, or not engaging nor integrated in the gameplay.
  7. Their gameplay is repetitive.
  8. Their music is annoying, repetitive, or wrong for the game style.
  9. They have a really high Frustration Factor (FF).
  10. Over-clicking punishment.
  11. Does too much automatically, so low Player Participation (PP).

Basically they fail to satisfy me for various reasons, and I usually know fairly quickly that it’s a reject.  Some games are by a particular producer, though they are scattered throughout those as well – even the best game producer and designer can put out a rubbish game occasionally.  I’ll try to keep their details brief as the list is long.

MYSTIC DIARY – HAUNTED ISLAND
It starts with the usual broken down car scenario; HOs could be clearer; over-clicking punishment; but you can drag an Item into the Hint box to find its usage which is different, and is a mixture of HO sites and Problem solving game.  Try it, but I Deleted it.

MYSTERY TRACKERS – THE VOIDElephant Games
I wrote – not bad but not as good as later 2 games of the Series – which I might add I have bought.  Some of the Puzzles were a pain and not very solvable, so the Skip button is a must.  HOs hidden fairly and unfairly with haze; peered at the screen due to poor visibility – always off-putting!  Try it by all means.

MASTER WU AND THE GLORY OF THE TEN POWERSNext Gamez
This has the usual hazy Graphics, plus Items are a little difficult to pick up from Inventory.  I tried this once before, and found it sadly annoying with sloppy mechanical usage.  The Music is okay but repetitive, with poor volume control.  Deleted.

HAUNTED HOTELSpecialbit Studio
Though the later games are great this one is not.  It’s TIMED!  And though the Graphics clarity is okay, the gameplay requires dexterity and speed.  Discriminates against less able players.  Deleted.

HAUNTED HOTEL – BELIEVE THE LIESSpecialbit Studio
This is much better than the first game, with better quicker opening; quick excellent Tutorial; helpful thoughts at the bottom of the screen which are then stored in the Journal; and 20 HOs to find each site.  But the story is a little intrusive, rather than integrated within the game-play; the Graphics are still blurry; and the HOs are too small.  Not as good as the latest ones.  Deleted.

RITA JAMES AND THE RACE TO SHANGRILABig Finish Games
While the animated Opening sequence was clear, the rest of the Graphics were dark and gloomy and the HO sites were hazy.  The disappointing Graphics impeded with the gameplay too much, causing high Frustration Factor FF!  It promised clarity and fun, but didn’t deliver.  I couldn’t be bothered.

100% HIDDEN OBJECTSCerasus Media
What a stupid game!  The rules are so ridiculous.  It’s Timed with stupid tricks in Graphics that have little clarity.  It’s slow to open, and has Boxes with 9 scenes in each to choose from.  YUJJO!  DELETE!

ODYSSEUS – LONG WAY HOMERainbow Games
Could a game get more BORING!  It’s informative, and educational about Troy and Odysseus.  It has clunky controls.  I Deleted it after 15 minutes of sighing.

SINISTER CITY Get Deep Studios
This could have been a really interesting game.  It had 3D CG opening, great colours in the Graphics, as you stepped into a SciFi World.  But the HOs were a little small, the Puzzles okay, but the Music was really irritating and repetitious.  I Deleted it, despite loving SciFi games  so it must have been unsatisfactory.  Perhaps check it out – you may like it.

HIDDEN IN TIME – MIRROR MIRRORBig Fish Games
A good game spoiled by interesting, colourful Graphics that are fuzzy and very annoying.  This could be due to my large screen, but I doubt it.  Basic HO play; hand mirrors to find for Hints; keys to find to unlock mirror shard boxes; and puzzle games between levels.  Try it – your computer might handle it better.  But I deleted it.

INTERPOL 2 TIK Games
Like INTERPOL, this game uses Computer Language – Activate, Interface etc – in its computer Main menu page.  It has a green holograph World Globe as a Map, but the Graphics are fuzzy/pixelated which is a pain, and many of the HOs are tiny.  It doesn’t allow Fast Clicking and is a total Eye Strain!  A shame.

LOST SECRETS – ANCIENT MYSTERIESSnow Owl Studio; Game Mill Entertainment
Opens with Journal then story panels; KV23 Pharoah’s temple in Valley of the Kings, Egypt.  The Dialogue between Chapter is too long.  I really like ‘Pyramid’ games but this must have disappointed me.  Deleted.

RENOVATE & RELOCATE: BOSTONReel Ten; Special Bit Studio
This game sits to the side of the screen, with lists in Menu off-screen!  I had to play it Windowed – I like the premise of it, great idea – pity about the Faulty screen placement.

MYSTERY NOVELgfi; Far Mills Game Studio
The mouse action was not very stable; impossible jumping Keys Puzzle so I had to use SKIP; some HOs too small; and Music repetitive.  Deleted.

LOST SECRETS: CARIBBEAN EXPLORER – SECRETS OF THE SEA Game Mill Entertainment
HOs are blurry Items placed over clearish scenes  – ridiculous.  Music repetitive and very annoying.  Deleted.

THREE MUSKETEERS SECRETS: CONSTANCE’S MISSIONfunLinker Games  FAULTY.  This game really could be great – but it freezes every few seconds which is really irritating, making the game stilted and impeding the PP (Player Participation) flow.  Try it and see if it faults for you.  Needs a Patch.  Deleted.

HIDDEN IDENTITY: CHICAGO BLACKOUTPop Cap Games
Collect 50 or more Notes to unlock Unlimited play.  Graphics really need to be clearer.  Hardly worth downloading.  Deleted.

1 MOMENT OF TIME: SILENTVILLE2 Monkeys
Good game, a bit confusing with interactive HOs; Graphics generally blurry but good in the HO sites; a bit slow moving; walking action odd.  Artwork intrudes as story fragments.  Deleted.

DOORS OF THE MIND: INNER MYSTERIESQB9
Another really interesting game ruined by stupid blurring of good Graphics; punishment for over-clicking; and slow to load/open.  Deleted.

JODIE DRAKE AND THE WORLD IN PERILSleepwalker Games
This entails taking photos of Central American Ruins.  The maze is okay, but it has the usual blurry atmospherics.  It’s very basic, not very interesting, uninspiring and boring!  Deleted.

About judsartwork

I write reviews of Adventure and Hidden Object games that are Crime, Fantasy, SciFi, Renovation, Travel, Quest and/or Mystery by genre. I have a Masters in Writing (2006) and have been writing novels, both crime and fantasy for many years; plus Haiku, verse, and prose both fictional and literary. I am also an artist of modern, Acrylic, textural and hard edge work, underwater, fantasy, expressionist, and Cosmos paintings. I use mixed media (Acrylic, Watercolour, Pastels) in textural Monoprints, finding surprises to expose within each work. Having both an analytical and creative mind has meant that I have strong powers of observation, and the persistence required to follow computer problems through till I solve them. Of course I am not always successful, but am willing to ask for a little help in order to then unlock the main problem myself. My Troubleshooting Blog, 'Problems and Solutions', was the result of my tenacity.
