Jud’s Game Rating:

Graphics *** Player participation (PP) **** Satisfaction Factor (SF) ****

Frustration Factor (FF) ** Fair Play (FP) **** Tedium Factor (TF) Nil

After waking up chained to the floor of a disgusting cabin, you must discover the Secret of Agony Creek and escape before it’s too late! Avoid a dangerous police officer, a mysterious phantom, and many more dangers in this incredible Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure game! Figure out why the town was evacuated and learn about the founder’s shady past in Cursed Memories: Secret of Agony Creek! (BigFish Sales Blurb)

After a weird and nonsensical opening, the game’s story becomes intriguing, moving quickly through scenes, and gradually piecing together, with an interesting resolution at the end.  The Options are good, and there are Relaxed and Expert Difficulty Modes to select.  The Graphics for the Hidden Object sites are not too blurry, and you are rewarded with only one Item from each site.  But there are HOs scattered around the general locations, and of course Puzzles/Problems for you to solve as you go.

However, there is no Map, which is a shame as it would be really useful, the Journal is good, and the Hints button will tell you if there is nothing left to do at a site, for now anyway – this keeps you returning to old sites in case there is still something to do there.  So the game-play entails a lot of going back and forth and is heavily Point & Click driven which gets tiring and causes a stiff Mouse hand.  Plus there is Over-clicking Punishment – one of my Pet Hates!!

Upon revisiting this game, I initially wondered why I had bought it after the free trial, but was gradually drawn into it.  I wouldn’t call it addictive or compulsive, but it’s not bad.  Give it a trial – you might like it.

About judsartwork

I write reviews of Adventure and Hidden Object games that are Crime, Fantasy, SciFi, Renovation, Travel, Quest and/or Mystery by genre. I have a Masters in Writing (2006) and have been writing novels, both crime and fantasy for many years; plus Haiku, verse, and prose both fictional and literary. I am also an artist of modern, Acrylic, textural and hard edge work, underwater, fantasy, expressionist, and Cosmos paintings. I use mixed media (Acrylic, Watercolour, Pastels) in textural Monoprints, finding surprises to expose within each work. Having both an analytical and creative mind has meant that I have strong powers of observation, and the persistence required to follow computer problems through till I solve them. Of course I am not always successful, but am willing to ask for a little help in order to then unlock the main problem myself. My Troubleshooting Blog, 'Problems and Solutions', was the result of my tenacity.
