I really like this game, with its imaginative Graphics, and its neat characters, and its unusual story.  It has a Basic Options, and after you have found the Spell Book, it has a Journal which not only contains the Spells, but also Puzzles, Constellations, and Journal information.  The Spells you can use – actually using a wand/cursor to ‘wave’ their pattern in the air/on the screen – are Transportation, Fire, Spark, and Ice.  These are used to assist your progress and also to help defeat the villain and his robots.

You need to collect the Blueprints for two Devices, then assemble them and use them to locate other Items or drain power/energy from electrical units.  I don’t want to give too much away, but the Bubble Device is cool.  Don’t get hung up on clicking on all the things that it reveals to you – well click them once so you know which ones are relevant, then move on.  However be sure to scan the entire location with the bubbles as you may miss something crucial – I did first time there and had to get outside help to see what I had missed – couldn’t believe I hadn’t noticed it as it was so obvious!

This game is rather FF at times, as the Journal doesn’t always give the helpful info that you want, and the Hints only tells you to look around some more, but not where to do so.  You will find that the BigFish Forum page for this game – it’s on the specific Sales Page for GUARDIANS OF MAGIC: AMANDA’S AWAKENING, will help you by answering some of the questions; plus you can Google the name of the game + WALKTHROUGH to find a few of them.  I used the first one on the list and it solved my problem immediately.  I didn’t need it for anything else – just this one thing that had eluded me.

It’s quite a hands-on game so the PP is good, and the nature of the Graphics and the story are both enjoyable – something for everyone – Hidden Object sites, Puzzles, but quite a lot of Adventuring as well.

I recommend this at all levels, and bought it.

About judsartwork

I write reviews of Adventure and Hidden Object games that are Crime, Fantasy, SciFi, Renovation, Travel, Quest and/or Mystery by genre. I have a Masters in Writing (2006) and have been writing novels, both crime and fantasy for many years; plus Haiku, verse, and prose both fictional and literary. I am also an artist of modern, Acrylic, textural and hard edge work, underwater, fantasy, expressionist, and Cosmos paintings. I use mixed media (Acrylic, Watercolour, Pastels) in textural Monoprints, finding surprises to expose within each work. Having both an analytical and creative mind has meant that I have strong powers of observation, and the persistence required to follow computer problems through till I solve them. Of course I am not always successful, but am willing to ask for a little help in order to then unlock the main problem myself. My Troubleshooting Blog, 'Problems and Solutions', was the result of my tenacity.
