I have chosen this title after careful consideration. I could have used Asian games which would have encompassed the Asian continent. But I wanted to use a term which would indicate that the games were set in China and Japan, rather than across the broader expanse of the continent. I am not talking about games that are created in those countries, but located in them.
These games usually contain ancient narratives, that involve the Terracotta Warriors, or ancient Dragons or their spirits, or Demons, or Oriental Goddesses – in other words are based in the mythology and traditions of these countries, incorporating actual historical legendary events and the real landscapes of those countries.
They are exotic, magical, intriguing, and when well-handled by the Game Designers enthralling. I love them – though there have been a few that haven’t lived up to my expectations. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
