GOOD GAME SPOILED

The highly anticipated follow-up to the smash hit Mirror Mysteries is finally here! In this second installation of the series, Tommy is all grown up and on the hunt for the mirror that changed the lives of him and his family forever. Now he’s missing, and it is up to you to help his sister retrieve Tommy and locate the evil mirror. Plunge through the mirror and into unimagined realms and magical worlds as you continue the saga and aid Tommy’s sister on her quest…to his power for good? (BigFish Sales Blurb)

Highly anticipated is right – but what a let-down.  The Graphics are no clearer than its predecessor – really blurry in the Hidden Object sites, with partly transparent Items and the use of far too much atmospherics!  Get with the times GOGii!!  Players want to be able to see what they are looking for.  Otherwise they will close the game and play (and buy) something else.  The cool SciFi locations and settings, characters and creatures are graphically wonderful, visually imaginative and captivating – why ruin them with haze?!  The Graphic Quality seems to improve a little towaards the end of the game.

Unfortunately, I bought this game expecting it to have progressed from its predecessor – and in sonme ways it has.  But there is a major Placement Glitch in this game – in some of the Puzzles (beginning with the Constellation Puzzle but then mostly the Jigsaws) you cannot pick up the pieces on them to click and drag them into position.  You have to click around until you find the right spot some distance from each piece before it will engage with your mouse.  Many of the pieces are off the screen or on the very edge so finding the spot is even harder.  With one of the Puzzles I had to Exit and re-enter the game only to strike a different problem with the same Puzzle – I could now pick up the pieces but couldn’t place them correctly other than all overlapped.  I breathed a sigh of relief when the game moved on as if it were completed correctly, despite the fact that there were holes in the picture.  The final Mirror is REALLY faulty!  And there seems to be a lack of SKIP as well.

But I jump ahead . . . let’s back up a little.  It has Casual and Advanced Difficulty Modes, HO sites in which you find find a few Items from their silhouettes to use on other Items, to use on other Items etc until you are left with one Item which you collect into your Inventory below.  This is a little different, and makes the game interesting (if only you can see through the haze to find them that is).  Tip: The BACK ARROW is located on the top of the Inventory Frame – initally takes a bit of finding.

Another Glitch is that the Cursor Freezes a few times in the early part of the game – seemingly caused by the player expecting the game-controls to move quickly.  Be patient – you have to move slowly, and wait for each Item to complete its collection before clicking on the next.  If the Cursor freeze, Ctrl/Alt/Del to bring up the Task Manager – open it, then drop it to the task bar and go back into the game via the Game Icon on the task bar.  If the game is still frozen, then return to the Task Manager by repeating the Ctrl/Alt/Del action, open Task manager, and End Task for the game.  Immediately re-open the game from your Desktop Icon or Game Manager file, and the game will play normally.

Tip:  With the Gyroscope Puzzle – another apparently faulty one, but not – the numbers to set into the outer rings, from the outer ring moving inwards, are the first four of the six numerals found.  The final two numbers can then be set on the side bands left then right.

I would like to recommend this game, but feel that it has too many problems to justify doing so.
